Quote & Thought for the Day -- Saturday, 1 Nov '08

“He who will not economize will have to agonize.”
My Thoughts:
We all know the story of The Ant and The Grasshopper. The Ant works in the summer and collects food for winter where as the Grasshopper dances and sings all summer until it has no food to eat for winter.

Pointing to this story I am not talking about conservation, but of a thin balance of managing things. During this time of Economic crisis, the world over, this Quote is more applicable than ever before.

"History never repeats itself, as most people fear. People usually repeat history."
--Divine Chikobvu
My Thoughts:
It is we Humans, who make History and Repeat them. It is we, who do not learn from our mistakes or from mistakes of others.

So if you don’t learn from Mistakes, you would then make a mistake of saying that History repeats itself.
Quote & Thought for the Day -- Thursday, 30 Oct '08

“Nothing astonishes men so much as common sense and plain dealing”
My Thoughts:
I have heard and observed that these days Common Sense is a bit un-common these days. We all tend to be and act in an un-common way….we, in our daily life, try to unnecessarily make simple things complicated.

But remember one thing, making things simple and dealing with them in a simple way would make your job simple.
Quote & Thought for the Day -- Wednesday, 29 Oct '08

“Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body.”
My Thoughts:
At first when you try to perform a strenuous physical activity, you tend to get tired. But as you make that activity a daily routine, it won’t tire you. This is because your body has been strengthened.

This is same with the mind. If you keep on engaging your mind with difficult task, it is surely going to strengthen against these difficulties.
Quote & Thought for the Day -- Tuesday, 28 Oct '08

“A bone to the dog is not charity. Charity is the bone shared with the dog, when you are just as hungry as the dog.”
My Thoughts:
Here Jack London is not trying to change the definition of Charity. Instead he tries to rectify our most common behavior.

And this behavior is only to give away only the excess we have. We would share something only when the “Juice overflows the Bottle.” I do agree that such a sharing is good, but when you share your stuff when you are in the same need as the receiver is……you have reached the peak of charity, a great human gesture of kindness.
Quote & Thought for the Day -- Monday, 27 Oct '08

“He that is of the opinion money will do everything may well be suspected of doing everything for money.”
My Thoughts:
This quote is very simple, straight forward stuff. But did you find a hidden or implied meaning in this?

Just remove the word Money from it and put whatever noun you want. And then you would find the mentality of most of us.
Quote & Thought for the Day -- Sunday, 26 Oct '08

“It is no longer good enough to cry peace; we must act peace, live peace and live in peace.”
--American Indian Proverb
My Thoughts:
Everyone everywhere cries for Peace. But would that bring peace? Certainly not….

Nothing would happen if you cry peace, except for a bit of noise. To bring peace, you have to Act for bringing peace. Your motive in life should be peace and then you will, probably, achieve peace.
